Visiter Rome a scooter en étant protégé et chic avec VEST PARIS

3 days in Rome by scooter

Rome is not visited, it is traversed.
It reveals itself in fragments, through detours, through contrasts. A monumental and profoundly vibrant capital, it imposes its rhythm, its cobblestones, its unexpected turns. In December, the city is calmer, more breathable, but the morning chill reminds us that Rome is more than just a postcard.

For this three-day urban road trip, we opted for a scooter. And for gear, the choice was obvious: the V2 parka from VEST PARIS , with its lightweight and invisible motorcycle protectors. The ideal jacket, capable of withstanding the cold wind, the rain, and the hazards of Roman traffic, while still looking stylish once you've taken off your helmet.

Day 1 – Historic center, first impressions and eternal Rome

December in Rome begins with a dry, sometimes damp, cold that rises from the cobblestones. Nothing extreme, but enough to appreciate a well-cut parka, protective without being stiff.

The first few kilometers head towards Monti , an ideal neighborhood for a gentle introduction to the city. The scooter allows you to weave through the narrow streets and stop whenever you like. Enjoy an espresso standing up at La Casetta a Monti , still quiet at this hour.

Very quickly, Rome imposes its obvious presence. The Colosseum appears almost unexpectedly, massive and timeless. We turn off the engine for a few minutes and observe. Then the Roman Forum , right next door, which we walk along before reaching Piazza Venezia .

The scooter allows you to move seamlessly between rides without fatigue, and our equipment makes the connection: it cuts the wind while riding, remains stylish once dismounted, without ever giving the impression of wearing motorcycle gear.

A peaceful end to the day, a simple dinner in Monti, then back by scooter as night fell. Rome calms down, the cold gently settles in.

Day 2 – Trastevere, the Vatican and Roman contrasts

The second day is the day of the movement.
Crossing the Tiber early in the morning to reach Trastevere , still silent before the arrival of tourists. The cobblestone streets are sometimes slippery, the air is crisp. The parka protects without restricting movement, and the motorcycle protectors remain completely invisible.

Lunch at Da Enzo al 29. Noisy, crowded, authentic. Pasta that warms you up as much as the atmosphere.

In the afternoon, the atmosphere changes completely with the Vatican . St. Peter's Square is always impressive, even if you think you've seen it before. Parking is easy and within a reasonable distance; you can walk a little and breathe it all in.

On the way back, a detour to the MAXXI , to break the rhythm, to change eras. The contrast between contemporary architecture and ancient Rome is striking.

An ice cream break at Gelateria del Teatro , even in December. The sweetness of the gelato against the cold air is almost addictive. We settle in for a few minutes, headphones in hand, jacket still on—proof that it truly accompanies us throughout the day without ever feeling heavy.

Day 3 – Rome, less touristy, more authentic

The third day is often the most revealing.
Head towards Testaccio , then Ostiense . Here, there are fewer iconic monuments, but a more raw, more local Rome. The traffic flows more smoothly, sometimes even faster. A scooter becomes essential.

A visit to the Pyramid of Cestia , an often overlooked, almost incongruous, yet fascinating monument. Then lunch at Flavio al Velavevodetto , nestled against Monte Testaccio. Frank, uncompromising Roman cuisine. Little talking, much observation.

In the late afternoon, we returned along the banks of the Tiber. The light fades quickly in December. The cold becomes more noticeable, especially on the scooter. The V2 parka performs perfectly: protection against the wind, warmth retention, constant comfort, without ever adding bulk.

What this road trip taught us

Discovering Rome by scooter is not about ticking off monuments.
It's about accepting movement, the morning chill, impromptu detours, and unplanned breaks. It's about choosing a liberating mobility.

In this context, gear is never a minor detail. A well-designed urban parka, like the V2, allows you to go from scooter to café terrace, from museum to street, without changing clothes, without a second thought. It becomes a discreet yet essential companion.

Rome, three days, an obvious fact

Three days are enough to understand that Rome is a demanding, intense, sometimes harsh, often sublime city.
Exploring it by scooter in winter, with the right equipment, allows you to experience it fully - without unnecessary constraints, without disguise.

We won't forget that road trip. And above all, we already know we'll do it again.
