INTRODUCTION
Majocchi is an Italian manufacturer of high-quality technical fabrics, with whom we have been partners since the brand's inception in 2012.
This long-lasting, trusting relationship is based on a shared spirit of innovation and the pursuit of performance for the benefit of the end user. This is what has motivated Inventive Citi for years and now motivates the VEST PARIS teams, particularly in the creation of its technical jackets.
When you first start out in the world of technical clothing, you only know the most reputable suppliers like Gore, but you quickly understand that the best, most reliable and most attentive companies are not necessarily these companies.
MajoTech is a prime example. We invite you to discover the long and rich history of this large (and under-known) Italian company located in the north of the country.
1941: THE BEGINNINGS
Majocchi was founded in 1941 in Bobbiate, Varese, one of the most important textile regions of all time, thanks to a brilliant intuition of its founder Bruno Romanin. Since its beginnings, Majocchi has always innovated, becoming a market leader in terms of innovation and performance in design. These were the years of development of the business: the first fabrics in wool, rayon, silk, and cotton were produced and in 1947 the AIRONE brand was patented.
1950s: DEVELOPMENT OF THE FIRST WATERPROOF COTTON FABRIC
During this decade, Majocchi became the main supplier of waterproof cotton for most rainwear manufacturers of the time.
1960s: TECHNICAL AND INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT
In the sixties, Majocchi's history progressed with the production of nylon and technical fabrics for industrial sectors, as well as waterproof fabrics. The main partner in these years was Pirelli, and in fact, these were the years of the introduction of high-tenacity nylon fabric for PIRELLI, in collaboration with Dupont & Enka-Glanzstoff.
Finally, 1960 was the year of the first partnership with Japan for the distribution of the wavelock patent with Nippon Carbide, Nisho and Maruto Kasey.
1970s: Innovation
A great decade, marked by goals, progress and successes.
Since the 1970s, with the introduction of Poliammide fibers, the company has developed innovative, high-tech fabrics for the industrial market, as well as for footwear, luggage, backpacks and protective clothing.
The 1970s were the year of innovation in nylon fabric for Moon Boot.
In 1974 the collaboration began with the famous artist Christo, creating the fabrics for his works of art and with Renzo Piano for the development of the first fabrics for tensile structures.
In 1976, as a pioneer, we first introduced Cordura® fabrics made with American DuPont yarn to the European market and this collaboration led us in the early 1990s to develop for Dupont a complete range of clothing fabrics made with Cordura®.
1980s: CLOTHING AND PROTECTION MARKET
The 1980s represented another turning point for the company, which suffered as European brands initially relocated manufacturing and sourcing to Asia.
The third generation's arrival in the company brings new life and lays the foundation for becoming a leading supplier in the clothing and protection market.
90s: Fashion and Military
The 1990s were marked by the development of innovative and high-performance fabrics for the clothing industry. Our main clients included Ralph Lauren, The North Face, Tommy Hilfiger, Prada, Timberland, and Napapijri. These were also the years when 3-layer Cordura was developed for the first Luna Rossa.
In 1998, the supply of military fabrics began, thanks to the collaboration with General Electric.
Majocchi finally entered the military sector in 1994, when it won a global contract for the Italian army for the new combat uniform and cold-weather parka.
In 1998, 3-layer laminated fabrics and PTFE laminated fabrics were developed and an exclusive agreement with Event ® by General Electric for military and clothing was concluded.
2000s: The Union of Design and Performance
Design and performance become one, indissolubly united. Majocchi begins collaborating with Place, Supreme, Woolrich, Stone Island, Maharishi, and many other famous brands, such as Inventive Citi, which became VEST PARIS. This is a major milestone for the company, which becomes a reference for the world's leading clothing brands. 2002 marks the launch of the first Flame Retardant Cordura® fabric for ballistic vests and the development of a special fabric for the helicopter collection.
In 2011, we witnessed the creation of a new lightweight and packable fabric for the British army during Operation Herrik in Iraq. 2015 marked the beginning of the collaboration with Kanye West for the first season of Yeezy.
